NBA Commissioner: James rejoining Cavs 'great'

BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhuanet) – The NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, has weighed in on another move the stalled sale of the LA Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Current team owner Donald Sterling is fighting the transaction, which was arranged by his wife Shelly after the billionaire was banned from the league for life over racist comments.

Closing arguments in the court case are scheduled to begin July 28th, but Silver has reiterated on NBA-TV that regardless of the ruling, the league will use all necessary measures to push Sterling out once and for all.

"I can say with certainty, we are doing everything in our power to move Donald (Sterling) out as an owner in the NBA. And as I said if the probate ruling doesn't go in our favor, we'll recommence our procedures under termination," Adam Silver said.

Silver also gave his opinion on the decision by LeBron James to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The NBA Commissioner thinks the four-time MVP going back to his original team, after four years with the Miami Heat, is great for the league, saying the move is reflective of the more matured character of the two-time champion.

"I think his statement about Northeast Ohio, about hard work, about this being about something larger than basketball and the NBA, you know, I've got to know LeBron (James) pretty well over the years, and so, you know, I think from that standpoint I'm really more like a fan, and thinking this seemed to be a great moment for the league," Adam Silver said.
