BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhuanet) -- The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has fired two ballistic missiles into its eastern waters.
According to an official with South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the DPRK launched what are believed to be short-range ballistic missiles from the northern part of the southern border city of Kaesong early this morning. They have a range of about 500 kilometers.
The DPRK regularly conducts test-firings, but this year has seen an unusually large number. South Korean officials have confirmed about 90 test-firings of missiles, artillery and rockets since February 21st. More than 10 have been ballistic launches.
