BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping meets with US officials in Beijing attending the sixth round of the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue.
The delegation, led by US Secretary of State John Kerry, and US Secretary of Treasury Jacob Lew, were received at the Great Hall of the People Thursday afternoon. Xi Jinping said the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue and the High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange over the past two days produced fruitful results and sent the message of improving and further developing China-US relations. Xi Jinping urged the two countries to implement the results to render benefit to people. He called on both sides to strengthen communication, cooperation, dialogue and exchange in various areas. Xi said China and US should keep coordination in regional hotspots. The Chinese President also called to narrow differences between the two countries and inject positive energy into bilateral relations.
Kerry and Lew also spoke highly of the achievements from the two-day meeting. They confirmed that the US is willing to see a strong, prosperous and stable China. The US will not contain the rise of China. It will improve dialogue and cooperation with China for further common development. They said that US President Barack Obama is looking forward to coming to attend the APEC leader’s summit in Beijing this November.
