BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese footballers may not be able to show up in this tournament, but a Chinese company has been going all out in Brazil to impress football fans with its green technology.
As the world’s largest manufacturer of solar panels, Yingli Solar is the only Chinese company to sponsor the FIFA World Cup. The company is powering up hundreds of households in Rio de Janeiro with the solar panels it mounted around the top of the Maracana Stadium.
It also provides all match venues with solar powered information towers and cell phone charging stations. In doing so, the company says it hopes to raise environmental awareness among football fans worldwide.
