BEIJING, June 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Argentina beat Slovenia 2-0 in their final World Cup warm-up game in Buenos Aires on Saturday. The hosts went into the lead in the twelfth minute when Ricardo Alvarez latched onto a loose back-pass just outside the centre circle and made a fairly simple solo run before sending a low shot into the bottom corner from just outside the area.
Maxi Rodriguez nearly claimed a second just after the half hour mark when his pinpoint shot from distance was tipped onto the crossbar by Slovenia goalkeeper Vid Belec.
Argentina seemed to conserve their energy throughout, frequently probing the Slovenia defence without ever really exerting themselves.
However, star players Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero combined well to wrap-up the win, with Messi applying the final touch to a well-worked team goal.
Argentina will now make their journey to Brazil ahead of their first World Cup Group F game against Bosnia-Herzegovina on 15th June.
