BEIJING, June 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Close to 9.4 million high school seniors are taking China's annual national college exam this year, 3% up from last year. Security has been increased around the country, with armed police manning school entrances and major streets.
In the capital Beijing where more than 70,000 students are taking the exams, Saturday saw clear, sunny weather after showers cleared the skies the day before. And the PM 2.5 level dropped to a single digit.
According to the central meteorological center, the heavy rains that have been pounding southern China are likely to continue but at a weaker force. Students in these regions are cautioned to take care.
