BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhuanet) -- CICA member states have wrapped up their Shanghai summit with a consensus on common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustained security.
In their joint declaration, the members agreed that, in the context of globalization, security has become an all-encompassing concept with increasingly prominent transnational, comprehensive and interconnected features. The declaration notes countries in the region share common interests and security concerns, and no country can stay immune to security problems. They agree no state should strengthen its security at the expense of another’s. They stressed separatism and extremism pose threats to national sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, safety and stability. The declaration says the summit will contribute to the lasting peace and joint prosperity in Asia based on the Shanghai Consensus.
