China urges U.S. to drop charges against military officers

English.news.cn   2014-05-22 10:52:39

BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The Foreign Ministry has rejected US charges of cyber theft against five Chinese military officers, urging the US to drop the "groundless" accusations.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei says the Chinese government, army and staff in related areas have never been involved in such activities. He says the US has proved itself again to be oppressive and hypocritical on cyber security. China has urged the US correct its mistake and drop the charges immediately.

And China’s ambassador to the US, Cui Tiankai, slammed the indictment during an interview with CNN on Tuesday. He said the US has been making persistent and large-scale attacks on China’s Internet, government departments, universities, companies and even individuals. He said China has always requested the US to give a clear and thorough clarification, which China still has not received.
