BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhuanet) -- In Laos, a military plane carrying a number of government officials has crashed in the country’s northeast. Xinhua news agency says at least five people have been confirmed dead, while three passengers have survived the accident.
There are reports that the Laos Defense Minister was one of the passengers on board the plane. The officials were travelling to the province of Xieng Khouang, for the 55th anniversary of the founding of the Second Division of the Lao People’s Army.
14 people are thought to have been on board, including the defense minister, the Public Security Minister and the mayor of the capital Vientiane.
