BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhuanet) -- On Friday, Pistorius' defence tried to show that his girlfriend was still falling as she was hit by the last of the shots that killed her.
The testimony, given by the ballistics expert for the defence, contradicted evidence given by the prosecution. A ballistics expert for the prosecution said Reeva Steenkamp was sitting on a magazine rack and was desperately protecting her head with her arms when the last shot struck her.
The debate over detail reflects the defence’s efforts to show that Steenkamp was NOT arguing with Pistorius after fleeing from him when she was shot in the pre-dawn hours of February 14th last year, as the prosecution contends.
Pistorius is charged with premeditated murder for shooting Steenkamp to death. But he says the killing was accidental because he mistook her for an intruder.
