BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Boston paid solemn tribute on Tuesday to the victims and survivors of the marathon bombing that traumatized the northeastern US city on April the 15th last year.
The attack killed three people and wounded more than 260, when twin bombs detonated near the finish line of the marathon.
US Vice President Joe Biden, accompanied by his wife, led a tribute at the Hynes Convention Center, just steps away from the scene of the attack. There was a moment of silence at 2:49 in the afternoon local time, the same time when the first bomb exploded, and then church bells tolled across Boston.
At about the same time, US President Barack Obama observed the moment of silence privately with aides in the Oval Office.
