BEIJING, April. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Afghanistan's interior minister has predicted a high turnout for this weekend's national elections.
At a press conference on Thursday, Mohammad Umar Daudzai also said he believed the country’s security forces are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of voters. Nearly 200,000 Afghan forces are being deployed to protect voters and polling stations. And election workers are packing sealed ballot boxes for delivery to nearly 5,500 polling centers nationwide.
Addressing concerns about fraud, President Hamid Karzai, who is constitutionally barred from running for a third term, said he was confident all the candidates would respect the will of the people.
