BEIJING, April. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli media reports that the Palestinian leadership has presented Israel with a list of demands for extending their peace talks, including a written commitment by Israel that acknowledges a future Palestinian state along the 1967 border.
The list was presented on Wednesday night, during an emergency meeting of Israeli, Palestinian and US negotiators, who were trying to salvage the deteriorating peace talks. The list also includes an end to the blockade on Gaza, and a halt to settlement construction in east Jerusalem. In addition, the Palestinian Authority calls for the Israeli army to end its arrests and assassinations in the West Bank. And they demand 1,200 Palestinian prisoners to be freed.
There has been no official response from either the Palestinian or Israeli side on the reported list. But a source in Jerusalem said the meeting "was conducted in a very harsh atmosphere," and ended without any results.
