BEIJING, Feb. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- The 2014 British Academy Film Awards, also called Bafta, has concluded, honoring outstanding performances in films and documentaries screened at British cinemas last year.
"Gravity" was named best British movie. It was also honoured for best visual effects, cinematography, sound and music. Alfonso Cuaron also won the best director for the space thriller. "12 Years a Slave" won best film, with its star Chiwetel Ejiofor winning best actor for his role as a free man tricked and sold into bondage.
In the supporting categories, "Captain Phillips" star Barkhad Abdi won, as did Jennifer Lawrence for "American Hustle".
Best animation went to Frozen, which came out ahead of Monsters University and Despicable Me Two.
