BEIJING, Feb. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Former Japanese prime minister Tomiichi Murayama has delivered a speech to South Korea's national assembly saying that Japan committed "indescribable wrongdoings" by forcing women from South Korea and other countries to serve as wartime sex slaves. He also said it is time for the Japanese government to resolve this issue.
Murayama arrived in Seoul on Tuesday for a three-day visit. The visit is seen as a move to improve relations.
Murayama delivered an apology known as the "Murayama Statement" to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II in 1995, where he vowed to advance the principles of peace. He reiterated his stance in his speech on Wednesday.
"Japan's Peace Constitution ensures that we do not resort to forces to resolve problems and conflicts. I believe that is very important. I believe it is the best path Japan should follow for the sake of its own development," Murayama said.
