BEIJING, Feb. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A humanitarian ceasefire in the Syrian city of Homs could be extended if more people want to leave the besieged Old City.
Wednesday is the last day of a three-day extension of the ceasefire, which has allowed the delivery of aid and evacuation of civilians. The city’s governor said they would consult the United Nations regarding the extension.
The original truce ran from Friday to Sunday. But continued shelling and shooting between the two sides severely limited efforts. On Saturday, gunmen opened fire on civilians, leaving at least one aid worker wounded and two trucks damaged.
