BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Fresh Chinese trade data has been released by China's Ministry of Commerce, and it's beat forecasts, showing the country's trade sector is picking up. Total trade volume reached 2.34 trillion yuan, or some 380 billion US dollars in January, and has jumped 7.3 percent on a monthly basis. The trade surplus widened further to nearly 32 billion US dollars.
Meantime exports increased 10.6 percent from the same period last year. And the country imported one tenth more goods from overseas from December, much better than an earlier forecast of 7 percent.
Analysts say the result is thanks to the Chinese New Year, during which demand peaked.
