BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Former Japanese prime minister Tomiichi Murayama has arrived in Seoul for a three-day visit to South Korea amid frayed ties between the two countries. Murayama is known for his 1995 apology while in office, regarding Japan’s war of aggression in Asia during World War II.

At a dinner with senior members of the South Korean opposition Justice Party, Murayama said that previous ministers of Japan acknowledged the Murayama statement and no one can deny the statement. The former Japanese prime minister, who came at the invitation of the Justice Party, visited the parliamentary headquarters where an exhibition of artworks by former South Korean "comfort women" is being held.

At the exhibition, he met three South Korean women who were forced into sexual servitude during World War Two. Murayama is scheduled to give a lecture at the parliamentary headquarters Wednesday.
