BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Yemen's feuding factions have wrapped up months of talks aimed at drafting a new constitution and establishing a federal state amid secessionist agitation in the south of the country.
President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi, who succeeded Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2012, has pledged to form commissions to draft the new constitution. He also vowed to discuss the details of the promised new federation. Participants in the national dialogue agreed that Hadi's term of office should continue until a new president is elected.
Speaking at a ceremony after the national dialogue talks were concluded, Hadi said the agreements were made after all sides made painful concessions. The UN's envoy to Yemen, Jamal Benomar, who has been overseeing the implementation of the peace deal, hailed the outcome of the dialogue as a "clear roadmap".
