BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Ahead of Sunday’s glittering ceremony directors of the films nominated for best foreign-language film gathered in Los Angeles. Let’s hear what they had to say on Saturday about their Golden Globe nominations, hoping to fortify their frontrunner positions ahead of the Oscars in March.

Director Abdellatif Kechiche is nominated for his film "Blue is the Warmest Colour." The French lesbian love story won the coveted Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Abdellatif Kechiche, Director of "Blue is the Warmest Colour", said, "The nomination is the recognition of the work that it took to make the film, but also this kind of recognition helps find new audiences. If there’s interest in the film because of the awards, then all the better because more people can come and discover it for themselves."

Asghar Farhadi won a best foreign language film Oscar in 2012 for "A Separation". This year, he is coming back with "The Past," which tells a story about an Iranian man who deserts his French wife and children to return home.

Asghar Farhadi, Director of "The Past", said, "Being nominated is a very important thing because what it means is that a greater number of filmmakers have established a relationship with my film."

Danish director Thomas Vinterberg is nominated with "The Hunt." The film is about a lonely teacher in Denmark who must face the consequences of a lie. Thomas Vinterberg, Director of "The Hunt", said, "It’s great to feel that this little story that we did all the way back in Denmark is coming out so far and is actually profoundly moving to me, which, I’m proud of that, and that’s enough for me. It would be fantastic to win, obviously, but this is fine for me."

Two other nominations go with Director Paolo Sorrentino’s "The Great Beauty" - Italy’s foreign-language Oscar submission, and director Hayao Miyazaki’s "The Wind Rises," a Japanese animated feature about a man who designed fighter planes.

The Golden Globes, organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will be handed out on Sunday in Beverly Hills. They are one of the biggest ceremonies in the Hollywood awards season leading up to the Oscars in March.
