President Xi Jinping meets with French PM

BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Next year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France, a landmark event in east-west relations. President Xi said China looks forward to working with France to build political trust, and respect each other’s core interests, as well as enhance communication to promote bilateral relations.

He also noted that China attaches great importance to France’s influential role in the EU, and expressed his hope that France will play a constructive role in promoting the development of relations between China and the EU.

Meanwhile, Ayrault said France is willing to expand cooperation with China in various areas, including nuclear energy, aviation, sustainable development, trade, and automobiles. He said France will continue its efforts in creating a stable and healthy bilateral relationship with China.
