Egypt ambassador to Ankara declared "persona non grata"

English.news.cn   2013-11-24 11:17:50

BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Turkey has declared Egypt’s ambassador to Ankara, Abderahman Salaheldin, "persona non grata" in a statement by the country’s foreign ministry.

This comes as a tit-for-tat response to Cairo expelling the Turkish ambassador hours before on Saturday. The statement also says the transitional government of Egypt is responsible for the current strained relations between the two countries. The Foreign Ministry goes on to say Turkey hopes to normalize ties once Egypt regains "democracy and stability".
