BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- The heavy smog is choking Northeast China's Harbin city in Heilongjiang Province. The city was shrouded in dense smog on the first day of its heating supply, with PM 2.5 index hitting the highest pollution level.
Several car accidents were reported due to poor visibility. The Heilongjiang provincial Meteorological Bureau issued a yellow smog warning for Sunday, the third highest on the alert scale.
Meteorologists say the smog has been mainly caused by emissions produced through heating supply.
