BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- China has called on the international community to fully implement the resolution on Syria and stick to the basic position of seeking a peaceful resolution of chemical weapons issues in Syria. But Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, warns there will be problems in implementing the UN resolution.
He stresses the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons and a political settlement for its continuing crisis should be advanced at the same time.
"China believes there should be parallel progress for the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria and political resolution in resolving Syrian issues. We call for and hope to see the earliest ceasefire in Syria, so as to create the necessary conditions for destruction of the chemical weapons in Syrian and pave way for a political settlement in Syria. China calls upon all the parties to work jointly to hold the second meeting in Geneva, and reach a transitional plan that will be acceptable to all the parties in Syria, so as to achieve a speedy and comprehensive settlement of the issue in Syria. China will continue to play a positive and constructive role in this issue." Wang Yi said.
