BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- The Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has held a press conference in New York. His country’s nuclear program has attracted much attention at this year’s UN session.

Rouhani has met with the Presidents of France and Austria, along with other world leaders in New York. Iran also engaged it the highest-level direct contact with the US in six years - an unexpected one-on-one meeting between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

During the press conference, the Iranian President said the meeting between Iran and the six world powers on Tehran’s nuclear program was positive. He added that Iran's ties with the US are different from the past, which could pave the way for better relations.

Rouhani also promised to settle the nuclear issue soon, and said his administration has fully authority to lead talks with the west.
