BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Thousands of supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi have held another march through downtown Cairo, calling for the return of civilian-rule.
There were chants for the reinstatement of the ousted President, and calls for Army General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to step down. Meanwhile, thousands are continuing their sit-in at a camp around Cairo’s Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque. That’s despite warnings from the military government that they’ll be forcibly removed.
There’s been a peaceful standoff at the Mosque in recent days during the run-up to the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which ends on Sunday. So far, the Muslim Brotherhood has refused to accept what it says was an illegal coup and has publicly called for Morsi’s return.
