BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Another tropical storm is heading for Southern China, prompting authorities in Hainan and Guangdong provinces to enact a number of emergency measures.

Tropical storm Jebi is said to be approaching the coast at speeds of around 20 kilometers an hour, with waves of four to seven meters. It will be the ninth tropical storm to hit China this year.

A yellow wave warning has been issued, with fishing vessels in the South China Sea advised to return to port. Local authorities have been told to step up safety inspections ahead of the storm’s arrival and Guangdong has launched a third level emergency response.

Heavy rain and huge gales are expected to hit Hainan and Guangdong in the coming days.
