BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Families of the three Chinese students who died are heading back to China with the ashes of their victims.
They left for China from San Francisco International Airport Saturday afternoon local time. The bodies of the victims were cremated Friday. A memorial service was held in the city at a Chinese cemetery on Thursday. The parents of the three victims, Chinese Consul-General in San Francisco, Yuan Nansheng, and the Mayor of San Francisco, Edwin Lee attended the service.
All three victims were students from Jiangshan High School in China’s Zhejiang province. Two girls died at the scene and one in the hospital days later. 291 passengers were aboard the flight including 141 Chinese. More than 180 people were injured in the accident.
