BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhuanet) -- On an official visit to Haiti, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that he would consider an asylum request by U.S. whistleblower Edward Snowden if he sent one to Venezuela.
Nicolas Maduro, Venezuelan President, said, "We have not received an official request for political asylum. If he puts in a request-- it seems he has sent a request to Ecuador and President Correa is evaluating it-- we would also evaluate it because asylum is humanitarian protection, a figure of international humanitarian law that has deep roots in Latin America and the Caribbean. It’s our, Latin American figure."
