BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has called on supporters to stage pro-government rallies next weekend, in Ankara and Istanbul.
The Prime Minister made the call while addressing supporters in the capital, just kilometers from continuing anti-government protests. It comes as riot police fired tear gas and water cannon to clear protesters from a square in Ankara.
Erdogan says the country’s financial markets are under attack by domestic and international speculators, and he urged people to put their money in state rather than private banks. He said if the Istanbul stock market collapses, then speculators will be under the rubble, not himself.
