BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhuanet) -- The international community has welcomed a statement by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea’s Special Envoy, over his country’s willingness to return to nuclear negotiations.
In his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Choe Ryong Hae said the DPRK is ready to work with the relevant parties to reach a resolution through multilateral dialogue and consultation, including the six-party talks. Russia has welcomed and praised the DPRK’s position.
The US has not made any official response yet, but a State Department spokesman said earlier that the US holds the same stance as China on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
South Korean government officials say they appreciate the positive step taken by the DPRK. Japan has said it is also preparing to make an official response.
