BEIJING, April 5 (Xinhuanet) -- China’s health authorities say they will be transparent about human infections of the new strain of bird flu and cooperate with the World Health Organization.
According to an official statement posted online, China briefed the WHO’s China office on the latest infections and the country’s countermeasures. The WHO said it appreciates China’s cooperation and offered technical support.
The two sides agreed to jointly evaluate the situation and potential risks. China said it has discovered no human-to-human transmission of the H7N9 virus. It has also found no epidemiological connection between the eleven cases. The WHO said that given the current evidence, the risk of an epidemic is low.
