BEIJING, March 10 (Xinhuanet) -- A Syrian rebel has said a group of 21 UN peacekeepers captured by Syrian rebels 3 days ago have been taken to the border with Jordan to be handed over to Jordanian authorities. The peacekeepers have now crossed over the border into Jordan.
The 21 Filipino peacekeepers were seized by the Martyrs of Yarmouk rebel brigade. They were held in the village of Jamla near the Golan Heights.
The peacekeepers are part of the UN Disengagement Observer Force which has been monitoring a ceasefire line between Syria and Israel in the Golan Heights since 1974.
