BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- An Israeli airstrike has destroyed a two-story residential house in Gaza, killing at least 11 civilians.
A missile hit the home of a Palestinian family, reducing the structure to rubble. Palestinian medical official Ashraf al-Kidra said 11 civilians were killed, including five women, four children and two men. Israeli military said that the attack was a targeted one, aimed at killing a world-wanted militant.
The new death toll brought the number of Palestinians killed in Israel’s five straight day operation to 66, including 32 civilians. Meanwhile, Palestinians also launched dozens of rockets into the Israeli commercial capital of Tel Aviv on Sunday.
Two new rockets shook the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon at lunchtime, damaging residential buildings but causing no death or significant injuries. More than 500 rockets fired from Gaza have hit Israel, killing three civilians so far. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was preparing for a possible ground invasion. But he also gave conditions for a truce.
