BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Arab foreign ministers have given their backing to Egyptian efforts to secure a truce that would end Israel’s offensive on Gaza.

Arab League Chief, Nabil Elaraby, said Arab foreign ministers would form a delegation to travel to Gaza in a show of support. The Lebanese Foreign minister condemned Israel for what was referred to as "massacres" against the Palestinian people.

Elaraby added that the Arab peace initiative will attempt to familiarize their approach in handling the problem, to become more in line with international approaches.

Adnan Mansour, Lebanese Foreign Minister, said, "The decisions taken today condemned Israel for the massacres it has carried out. The council also called for the prosecution of those responsible for this war and their referral to international courts because of the crimes committed against humanity. The council also called for an end to the normalization process with Israel."

Nabil Elaraby, Secretary General of the Arab League, said, "Everyone is prepared to face this matter and the Arab Peace Initiative will look into the issue of how the Arabs will deal with the international methodology and mechanisms used with regards to the Palestinian problem. We need to face the facts because continuing on this path will lead only to more losses for the Palestinian people and the Arab nations."
