BANGKOK, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- An alert was issued on Monday to warn Chinese citizens who are now in Bangkok or about to leave for the city to avoid protest sites.

In a statement posted on its website, the Chinese embassy in Thailand urged Chinese citizens to avoid major demonstration sites in Bangkok, including the Democracy Monument and the Office of the Prime Minister, and enhance vigilance.

Chinese citizens can contact the embassy for protection when in need, said the statement.

On Monday, thousands of anti-government protestors stormed 13 state offices in the capital to press for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to step down.

Earlier this month, the opposition Democrat Party submitted a censure motion against Yingluck and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan.

They also filed an impeachment motion against the two and deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi for abusing power and violating laws.

The House of Representatives will open the no-confidence debate on Nov. 26-27 and the vote is scheduled for Nov. 28, the last day of the current parliamentary session.
