RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Brazil World Cup winner Roberto Carlos was Friday appointed coach of Turkey's Akhisar Belediyespor.
The 41-year-old signed an 18-month contract taking effect on January 9, the Akhisar-based club said on Twitter.
Currently 11th in Turkey's top division, Akhisar Belediyespor have failed to win any of their past seven matches.
It will be Carlos' third coaching role after spells at Russia's Anzhi Makhachkala and Turkey's Sivasspor.
The former Real Madrid left-back quit as manager of Sivasspor last month after a 2-0 home loss to Istanbul BB.
