- NBA had two important changes in 2014. One is David Stern stepped down as the NBA Commissioner on Feb. 1 after a 30-year spell. Stern took the role on February 1, 1984. Adam Silver became NBA Commissioner.
The other is Donald Sterling's 33-year tenure as the Los Angeles Clippers' owner ended as the Clippers was sold to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for 2 billion U.S. dollars in August 12. Sterling was banned for life from the NBA due to racism comments.
