WASHINGTON, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Coach Kevin McHale has agreed to extend his contract with the Houston Rockets for three more years till the summer in 2018.
McHale compiled a 153-104 record and led the Rockets to the playoffs in the last two seasons.
"He embodies the leadership, passion, knowledge, and team-first qualities we need as we continue our pursuit of bringing another NBA championship to the city of Houston," Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said on the extension.
McHale got three NBA titles when he played for the Celtics. He played and coached the Timberwolves before joining Houston in 2011.
The Rockets are 20-7 and in the second place in the Southwest Division.
