NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- 28-year-old Chinese Peng Shuai beat the 4th-seed Agnieszka Radwanska in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday to advance into the U.S. Open third round.
The two players met four times before the match, each of the four needed a third set.
Peng was broken in the very first set, but she managed to break back in the fourth game to tie the score 2-2. Radwanska lost her serve in the eighth game, and Peng took the chance to finish the first set 6-3 after holding her own in the ninth game.
The second set went in favor of Peng. The world number 39 player broke in the fifth game to take the lead, and turned the third match point to a winner of the match.
Peng was to take on 28th-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci in the third round.
