MADRID, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The football team Deportivo de La Coruna on Tuesday announced the dismissal of Fernando Vazquez, the coach who helped the team to return to play in Primera Liga this year.
The Club announced this decision arguing lack of confidence in the coach. "The lack of confidence of the Board in the coach has led to this decision," the club said in a statement.
This lack of confidence was due to the statements made by Vazquez last week. Vazquez complained about the economic situation of the club, which made it more difficult for the coach to choose the best players.
"We never really got what we were looking for. It is clear that this year we have a decent amount of money to spend, it is not like last year, when we had to go door-to-door asking for money ", Vazquez said after admitting they could not signing "option one" and had to "choose option five, six or seven."
The club said that they appreciated the work of Vazquez and the coach said the situation was "unfair".
"I do not deserve this, I do not agree with the president's decision and I think they are mistaken", Vazquez said. "I did not have the opportunity to explain my words before they announce the decision, I had no trial," he said.
The Club said they will find another coach in order to start working on July 14, while announcing that the president of Deportivo La Coruna will publicly analyze this situation in the coming days.
