FORTALEZA, Brazil, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored from the penalty point four minutes into the stoppage time to help the Netherlands shock Mexico 2-1 and send them to the World Cup quarterfinals here on Sunday.
Giovanni Dos Santos put Mexico ahead in the 48th minute and they kept the advantage until the 88 minute when Wesley Sneijder equalized the scoring with a long shot.
The Dutchmen were awarded a penalty in the injury time when Rafael Marquez seemingly felled Arjen Robben in the area.
Huntelaar, who replaced captain Robin van Persie, slot the ball into the bottom left corner and left Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who made several great saves during the match, to have no chance.
