MOSCOW, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Russian star pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva has given birth to a baby girl, the Russian Athletics Federation announced Sunday.
Shortly after her winning gold at the world championships in Moscow in August last year, Isinbayeva said her next goal was to become a mother and promised that she would soon be pregnant.
Isinbayeva said in May that she was planning to return to training as soon as possible ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The 32-year-old Isinbayeva won two Olympic gold medals in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008. She has also set 28 world records.
