BRUSSELS, June 18 (Xinhua) -- A football fan, 41, died of his injuries Wednesday morning after a "violent" fall in Brussels during the jubilation after a victory of the Red Devils in the 2014 World Cup, police said.
The man fell "heavily" Tuesday night from a lion statue in front of the building Bourse of downtown Brussels while celebrating a victory of Belgium over Algeria in the first match in Group H of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, according to witnesses.
The Moroccan national was in a "very critical" case after he fell to the ground and bumped his shoulder and head. He was quickly sent to hospital by an ambulance.
The happening was concluded as an accident as surveillance camera footages corroborated witnesses' claims, the local media reported.
