RIO DE JANEIRO, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Fabio Coentrao of Portugal has been forced out of the World Cup due to injury.
According to the Portuguese Football Association on Tuesday, Coentrao sustained an adductor muscle injury in his right thigh in the 4-0 defeat to Germany. He could not possibly recover until after the World Cup.
Another two Portuguest players Hugo Almeida and Rui Patricio also have muscle injuries and will try hard to recover in time for next games.
Portugal next will play against the United States on Saturday.
