ZAGREB, June 14 (Xinhua) -- MRI that Luka Modric's had on his foot in hospital in Salvador on Friday showed that there were no broken bones or damaged ligaments from the hard clash that he had during the game against Brazil.
Modric played the whole match but the following morning he was limping in a lot of pain and with a big swelling on his foot that would prevent him from putting his boots on.
"The most important thing for Luka (Modric) now is that he gets two days to rest and go to therapy which will help him to get rid of the pain and swelling. In two days his medical status will be a lot clearer," said Boris Nemec, the chief of Croatian team's medical staff, and confirmed that Modric is doubtful for the match against Cameroon on June 18 in Manaus.
"There is a chance that Modric will be ready but for now we list him as doubtful for the match against Cameroon. I believe we will get him ready but you can never be sure about those kind of injuries."
After the first round matches Croatia and Cameroon are two teams without points in Group A which means that the losing team from their encounter would be all but eliminated from the World Cup.
That makes Modric's recuperation even more important for the Croatian team.
