NAIROBI, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended the contract with Kwesi Appiah, the head coach of the Black Stars, to summer 2016, said a report reaching here Monday.
The new contract was signed before the Black Stars departed for a pre-World Cup training camp in the Netherlands last weekend.
"This comes at the right time because it strengthens the confidence in my ability," said the 53-year-old Appiah.
Ghana face Germany, Portugal and the United States in World Cup Group G in Brazil next month.
Appiah, assistant coach of the Black Stars since 2008, replaced Serbian Goran Stevanovic, who was sacked in March 2012 after Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nationsl final.
