BERLIN, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Hertha Berlin has reinforced their squad with the signing of Basel's Valentin Stocker, the Bundesliga side confirmed on Sunday.
The Switzerland international midfielder joined "Hertha" by putting a pen to paper on a deal until June 2018. Stocker still had a contract with Basel until 2016 therefore both sides agreed to keep silence over transfer fee and details.
"Valentin Stocker is an outstanding player who fits in our requirements. He will add more versatility to our offence and will pose a threat in any goal area. We are glad that we were able to sign him," Berlin's sporting director Michael Preetz said.
Stocker transferred from Austrian champions Basel where he played seven years to score 50 goals in 175 appearances.
"I am glad about my transfer to the Bundesliga. It was from the beginning my desire to sign with Hertha Berlin," the new arrival said.
His new club completed the season on 11th place of the Bundesliga standings.
