JAKARTA, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Badminton team on Tuesday left for India to vie for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup championship from May 18 to 25 after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono led a ceremony for the departure at the State Palace.
Chairman of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Gita Wirjawan said that China is the strongest opponent for Indonesian team so far.
Wirjawan said that Indonesia would rely much on double-man player as China has strong man player, Lin Dan.
"As you all have been well trained, certainly you have spirit and intention to get victory in India," President Yudhoyono said at the State Palace.
The Indonesian players vying for the Thomas Cup are Tommy Sugiarto, Dionysious Hayon Rumbaka, Simon Santoso, Ihsan Maulana, Hendra Setiawan, Mohamad Ahsan, Rian Agung Saputro, Angga Pratama, Berry Angriawan and Ricky karanda Suwardi, according to the association.
Indonesian players competing for Uber Cup are Linda Wenifanetri, Bellaetrix Manuputty, Adrianti Firdasari Maria Febe Kusumastuti, Greysia Polli, Nitya Maheswari K, Pia Zebadiah, Rizki Amelia, Tiara Rosalia and Suci Rizki A, it said.
