BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Ducks earned a 94-88 home victory over Xinjiang Guanghui, leading 3-1 in the best-of-seven Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league finals on Wednesday.
Two teams traded several baskets before Ji Zhe hit a 3-pointer to make it 7-7. Xinjiang scored 7 straight points to lead with 14-7. Beijing then cut the deficit down to 3 points and took the advantage back thanks to 2 lay-ups of Stephon Marbury. Beijing led by 28-25 at the end of the first quarter.
Randolph Morris and Li Gen contributed Beijing's first 10 points of the second period. A 3 pointer from Ji Zhe helped Beijing establish a 12-point advantage. Hudson and Tang Zhengdong then each add 4 points to Xinjiang, however, they still trailed by 6 points after first half, 47-41.
A stunning slam dunk from Morris opened the dramatic third quarter, Beijing took a 55-41 lead after a 8-0 streak, after Hudson hit a 3-pointer for Xinjiang, Beijing scored 10 points more in a row to expand the led to 65-44. Xinjiang then responded with 11 straight points, at the end of the quarter, they cut the deficit from 21 points to only 9 points, 60-69.
Beijing regained a 2-digit led after Ji Zhe's 2 points, Xinjiang managed to come from behind with four 3 pointers from Hudson and Singleton, however, the former Lakers player Sun Yue answered with two 3-pointers also. After time out, although Zhang Qingpeng of Xinjiang hit 2 shot behind the arc, Beijing still secured the victory on Marbury's 2 free throws.
Morris led Beijing with 25 points and 8 rebounds, former NBA player Marbury and Sun Yue added 23 and 17 points respectively; Hudson scored the game-high 27 points for Xinjiang.
With only one more victory from the final championship, Beijing will again host Xinjiang in the fifth game at MasterCard Center on Friday night.
